Tuma's Book Rant: Review of Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun by Aidaro, Vol. 1-2 (Manga)

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun; Review by Tuma's Books and Things
Do you enjoy/read manga? What are some of your fave series?

I've been in an atrocious reading slump. To help me get out of it I've been feeding my inner 16 year old girl by reading shojo manga 🙈😅💜. The exhausted soul wants what it wants. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I've read the first two volumes of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun by Aidalro, @yenpress It's quirky, cute, interesting, and a bit cheesy with moments of ridiculous humor 😂. Got through em both in an hour, making me feel accomplished.

Nene Yashiro dreams of romance and easily falls into crushes with pretty-faced boys. She attends a school that's well known for its Seven Mysteries. One of which is a ghost named Hanako-San who dwells in the 3rd stall of the 3rd floor girls bathrooms granting wishes.

When she ventures upstairs to make her wish she discovers that Hanako is actually a boy and after some misadventures she ends up as his assistant, keeping the students safe from the other six mysteries of the school.

The plot is wacky; the characters are a bit over the top; the humor is super silly. But it's a perfect recipe of what I need right now with the stresses of work and quarantine.

I enjoy the unique stories behind the different Mysteries of the school, as well as Yashiro's development and the glimpses into Hanako-kun's backstory. How did he become a ghost and why has he taken it upon himself to protect the school from the other ghosts? What is he atoning for?

So, I recommend Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun if you enjoy manga/anime, potential budding romance, and ghost stories. Want a copy? Place a book order request here.
