[Quick Tuma Rant] Wild Rain by Beverly Jenkins and The 1619 Project by Nikole Hannah-Jones

Wild Rain by Beverly Jenkins (eBook) - I ADORE romance, but I haven't read any in so long. Not even sure why. Wild Rain reminded me of why I love romance so much. Yes, it's a love story, but it's so much more than that. I learned a lot about what life in the west during westward expansion was like for Black and Indigenous peoples. You can LEARN from romance, folks! Don't let anyone make you believe romance isn't "serious" cause it dang sure is!

The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story by Nikole Hannah-Jones with Full Cast (Audiobooks) - Now, this book. Whew, chile! This book had me driving a little too fast, fists clenched tightly on the wheel as my jaw hung open by some new information about something I "thought" I'd learned about, but obviously truly haven't. Each chapter blew my mind. And the poems and stories embedded were beautiful and powerful. I loved listening to this, but my visual brain DEFINITELY needs to reread the print copy I have so I can underline and post-it tab to my heart's content. This is a recommended must read for EVERYONE who lives on American soul.
