About Tuma:
My name is Fatuma Hydara and I am an 8th grade English teacher by day and a reader-entrepreneur by night. I've always been book-obsessed. As a child, I hid under my covers with a flashlight reading late into the night. Growing up, books and stories were gateways into worlds and experiences that were so different from my own as the oldest daughter of West African, Muslim immigrants, living in The Bronx, NY. However, I never found stories that reflected my identity as Black, Muslim, First Generation, Gambian-American. Read the rest of my story here.
If books and reading is your life, if you value diversity and connecting with others, if you enjoy simple pleasures, and if you're young at heart, then this is your home. Thank you for joining me in my journey. Read the rest of my mission/vision here.
