National Relaxation Day - Book Recommendations for Relaxation

Fatuma Hydara

It's National Relaxation Day. But on a TUESDAY?! Most of y'all are at work.

If you're like me, Type A, ambitious, product of this capitalist society and don't really know HOW to rest, then try to:

1.Take a nap today, even for 20 minutes. See how it feels.

2.Read an audiobook. And that's it. Don't be "productive" as you read.

3.Lay down and daydream for 30 minutes. Just let your mind drift.

4.Check out these book recs for tips on how to relax and chill out.

Book Recommendations for Relaxation Day

📚 Book Recommendations for National Relaxation Day:

Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey

In this book, Tricia Hersey, aka The Nap Bishop, encourages us to connect to the liberating power of rest, daydreaming, and naps as a foundation for healing and justice.

How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy by Jenny Odell

Odell sees our attention as the most precious--and overdrawn--resource we have. And we must actively and continuously choose how we use it. Provocative, timely, and utterly persuasive, this book will change how you see your place in our world.
